Jesus Christ Wants To Live
His Life Through Each Individual
Person That Is Apart
Of The Body Of Christ.
Galatians 2:20 New Living Translation (NLT)
20 My old self has been
crucified with Christ.[a]
It is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me.
So I live in this earthly body by
trusting in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave
himself for me.
The First Understanding

Jesus Is The Word And
He Must Become The

Scriptures That Explain Clearly
How Jesus Wants To Live
His Life Through Us And
How To Reach
The Top Of The Stairs.
The Amount Of Faith You Have
Is A Direct Reflection Of
How Much Time Everyday You Spend
Listening To God's Word,
Jesus.
(1IS)
Romans 10:8-11, 17
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 But what does it say?
“The word is near you,
in your mouth and in your heart”
(that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess
with your mouth the Lord Jesus
and believe in your heart that
God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness,
and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says,
“Whoever believes on Him
will not be put to shame.”
17 So then faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.
Listening To The New Testament.
When You Listen To God's Word
The Holy Spirit Of God Will
Teach You The Word.

1 John 2:26-27 New Living Translation (NLT)
26 I am writing these things to warn you
about those who want to lead you astray.
27 But you have received the Holy Spirit,[a]
and he lives within you,
so you don’t need anyone to
teach you what is true.
For the Spirit[b] teaches you everything
you need to know,
and what he teaches is true—
it is not a lie.
So just as he has taught you,
remain in fellowship with Christ.
True Faith Results In

(3IS)
James 2:14-26 New Living Translation (NLT)
Faith without Good Deeds Is Dead
14 What good is it, dear brothers and sisters,
if you say you have faith
but don’t show it by your actions?
Can that kind of faith
save anyone?
15 Suppose you see a brother or sister
who has no food or clothing,
16 and you say,
“Good-bye and have a good day;
stay warm and eat well”—
but then you don’t give that
person any food or clothing.
What good does that do?
17 So you see,
faith by itself isn’t enough.
Unless it produces good deeds,
it is dead and useless.
18 Now someone may argue,
“Some people have faith;
others have good deeds.” But I say,
“How can you show me your faith if you
don’t have good deeds?
I will show you my faith
by my good deeds.”
19 You say you have faith,
for you believe that there is one God.[a]
Good for you!
Even the demons believe this,
and they tremble in terror.
20 How foolish!
Can’t you see that faith
without good deeds is useless?

The Final Judgment
31 “But when the Son of Man
comes in his glory,
and all the angels with him,
then he will sit upon his glorious throne.
32 All the nations will be
gathered in his presence,
and he will separate the people
as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will place the sheep

34 “Then the King will say

35 For I was hungry,

I was a stranger,
and you invited me into your home.
36 I was naked,
and you gave me clothing.
I was sick,

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply,
‘Lord, when did we ever see you
hungry and feed you?
Or thirsty and
give you something to drink?
38 Or a stranger and
show you hospitality?
Or naked and give you clothing?
39 When did we ever see you
sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 “And the King will say,
‘I tell you the truth,
when you did it to one
of the least of these my
brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me!’
41 “Then the King will turn
to those on the left and say,
‘Away with you, you cursed ones,

42 For I was hungry,

44 “Then they will reply,
‘Lord, when did we ever
see you hungry or thirsty
or a stranger or naked
or sick or in prison,
and not help you?’
45 “And he will answer,
‘I tell you the truth,
when you refused to help
the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were refusing to help me.’
46 “And they will go away

1 John 2:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT)
Do Not Love This World
15 Do not love this world
nor the things it offers you,
for when you love the world,
you do not have the love
of the Father in you.
16 For the world offers only
a craving for physical pleasure,
a craving for everything we see, and
pride in our achievements and possessions.
These are not from the Father,
but are from this world.
17 And this world is fading away,
along with everything
that people crave.
But anyone who does what
pleases God will live forever.

Acts 20:28-35 New Living Translation (NLT)
28 “So guard yourselves and God’s people.
Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church,
purchased with his own blood[a]—
over which the Holy Spirit has
appointed you as leaders.[b]
29 I know that false teachers,
like vicious wolves,
will come in among you after I leave,
not sparing the flock.
30 Even some men from your own group
will rise up and distort the truth
in order to draw a following.
31 Watch out!
Remember the three years I was with you—
my constant watch and care
over you night and day,
and my many tears for you.
32 “And now I entrust you to God and
the message of his grace that is able to
build you up and give you an inheritance
with all those he has set apart for himself.
33 “I have never coveted anyone’s
silver or gold or fine clothes.
34 You know that these hands of mine
have worked to supply my own needs and
even the needs of those who were with me.
35 And I have been a constant example
of how you can help those
in need by working hard.
You should remember the
words of the Lord Jesus:
‘It is more blessed to give
than to receive.’”

Hebrews 6:10-12 New Living Translation (NLT)
10 For God is not unjust.
He will not forget how hard
you have worked for him and
how you have shown your love to him
by caring for other believers,
[a] as you still do.
11 Our great desire is that you
will keep on loving others
as long as life lasts,
in order to make certain that
what you hope for will come true.
12 Then you will not become
spiritually dull and indifferent.
Instead, you will follow the example
of those who are going to inherit
God’s promises because of
their faith and endurance.
(7IS)
2 Corinthians 9:6-10 New Living Translation (NLT)
6 Remember this—a farmer who
plants only a few seeds
will get a small crop.
But the one who plants generously
will get a generous crop.
7 You must each decide in your
heart how much to give.
And don’t give reluctantly
or in response to pressure.
“For God loves a person
who gives cheerfully.”[a]
8 And God will generously
provide all you need.
Then you will always have
everything you need and
plenty left over to
share with others.
9 As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and
give generously to the
poor.
Their good deeds will
be remembered forever.”[b]
10 For God is the one who provides
seed for the farmer and
then bread to eat. In the same way,
he will provide and increase
your resources and then produce
a great harvest of generosity[c] in you.

Revelation 3:15-17 New Living Translation (NLT)

16 But since you are like lukewarm water,
neither hot nor cold,
I will spit you out of my mouth!
17 You say, ‘I am rich.
I have everything I want.
I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t
realize that you are
wretched and miserable and
poor and blind and naked.

Jesus Is The Word Of God
John 1:1-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
Prologue: Christ, the Eternal Word
1 In
the beginning the Word already existed.
The
Word was with God,
and
the Word was God.
2 He
existed in the beginning with God.
3 God
created everything through him,
and
nothing was created except through him.
4 The
Word gave life to everything that was created,[a]
and
his life brought light to everyone.
5 The
light shines in the darkness,
and
the darkness can never extinguish it.[b]
John 1:9-14 New Living Translation (NLT)
9 The one who is the true light,
who gives light to everyone,
was coming into the world.
10 He came into the very
world he created,
but the world didn’t recognize him.
11 He came to his own people,
and even they rejected him.
12 But to all who believed him
and accepted him,
he gave the right to become children of God.
13 They are reborn—
not with a physical birth resulting
from human passion or plan,
but a birth that comes from God.
14 So the Word became human[a]
and made his home among us.
He was full of unfailing
love and faithfulness.[b]
And we have seen his glory,
the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

Acts 10:9-16 New Living Translation (NLT)
Peter Visits Cornelius
9 The next day as Cornelius’s messengers
were nearing the town,
Peter went up on the flat roof to pray.
It was about noon,
10 and he was hungry.
But while a meal was being prepared,
he fell into a trance.
11 He saw the sky open,
and something like a large sheet was let down
by its four corners.
12 In the sheet were all sorts of animals,
reptiles, and birds.
13 Then a voice said to him,
“Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.”
14 “No, Lord,” Peter declared.
“I have never eaten anything that our
Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.[a]”
15 But the voice spoke again:
“Do not call something unclean if
God has made it clean.”
16 The same vision
was repeated three times.
Then the sheet was suddenly
pulled up to heaven.

“Yes, Lord,” Peter replied,
“you know I love you.”
“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.
16 Jesus repeated the question:
“Simon son of John, do you love me?”
“Yes, Lord,” Peter said,
“you know I love you.”
“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.
17 A third time he asked him,
“Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt that Jesus asked
the question a third time.
He said, “Lord, you know everything.
You know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

“Your prayers and
gifts to the poor
have been received
by God as an offering!
5 Now send some men to Joppa,
and summon a man named Simon Peter.
6 He is staying with Simon,
a tanner who lives near the seashore.”
Acts 9:36-42 New Living Translation (NLT)
36 There was a believer in Joppa
named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas[a]).
She was always doing kind things
for others and helping the poor.
37 About this time she became ill and died.
Her body was washed for burial and
laid in an upstairs room.
38 But the believers had heard that Peter
was nearby at Lydda,
so they sent two men to beg him,
“Please come as soon as possible!”
39 So Peter returned with them;
and as soon as he arrived,
they took him to the upstairs room.
The room was filled with widows
who were weeping and showing him
the coats and other clothes Dorcas
had made for them.
40 But Peter asked them all
to leave the room;
then he knelt and prayed.
Turning to the body he said,
“Get up, Tabitha.”
And she opened her eyes!
When she saw Peter, she sat up!
41 He gave her his hand and helped her up.
Then he called in the widows
and all the believers,
and he presented her to them alive.
42 The news spread through
the whole town,
and many believed in the Lord.

James 1:22-25 New Living Translation (NLT)
22 But don’t just listen to God’s word.
You must do what it says.
Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
23 For if you listen to
the word and don’t obey,

24 You see yourself, walk away,

‘Listen, O Israel!
The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.

31 The second is equally important:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

A Living Sacrifice to God
12 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a]
I plead with you to give your bodies
to God because of all he has done for you.
Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—
the kind he will find acceptable.
This is truly the way to worship him.[b]

Revelation 20:7-14
New Living Translation (NLT)
The Defeat of Satan
7 When the thousand
years come to an end,
Satan will be let out
of his prison.
8 He will go out to
deceive the nations—
called Gog and Magog—
in every corner of the
earth.
He will gather them
together for battle—
a mighty army, as
numberless
as sand along the
seashore.
9 And I saw them as
they went up
on the broad plain of
the earth
and surrounded God’s
people
and the beloved city.
But fire from heaven
came down
on the attacking
armies and consumed them.
10 Then the devil, who
had deceived them,
was thrown into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur,
joining the beast and
the false prophet.
There they will be
tormented day
and night forever and
ever.
The Final Judgment
11 And I saw a great
white throne
and the one sitting on
it.
The earth and sky fled
from his presence,
but they found no
place to hide.
12 I saw the dead,
both great and small,
standing before God’s
throne.
And the books were
opened,
including the Book of
Life.
And the dead were
judged according
to what they had done,
as recorded in the
books.
13 The sea gave up its
dead,
and death and the
grave[a]
gave up their dead.
And all were judged
according to their deeds.
14 Then death and the
grave were
thrown into the lake
of fire.
This lake of fire is
the second death.

Acts 2:42-47 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Believers Form a Community
42 All the believers devoted themselves
to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship,
and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper[a]),
and to prayer.
43 A deep sense of awe came over them all,
and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.
44 And all the believers met together in one place and
shared everything they had.
45 They sold their property and possessions and
shared the money with those in need.
46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day,
met in homes for the Lord’s Supper,
and shared their meals with great joy and generosity[b]—
47 all the while praising God and enjoying
the goodwill of all the people.
And each day the Lord added to
their fellowship those who were being saved.

Acts 4:32-37 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Believers Share Their Possessions
32 All the believers were united
in heart and mind.
And they felt that what they
owned was not their own,
so they shared everything they had.
33 The apostles testified powerfully
to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus,
and God’s great blessing
was upon them all.
34 There were no needy
people among them,
because those who owned land or
houses would sell them
35 and bring the money to
the apostles to give to those in need.
36 For instance, there was Joseph,
the one the apostles nicknamed
Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”).
He was from the tribe of Levi and
came from the island of Cyprus.
37 He sold a field he owned and
brought the money to the apostles.

Living the New Life

to new life with Christ,
set your sights on the realities of heaven,

2 Think about the things of heaven,
not the things of earth.

Their god is their appetite,
they brag about shameful things,

10 For instance, Moses gave you this law from God:
‘Honor your father and mother,’ and
‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully
of father or mother must be put to death.’
11 But you say it is all right for people
to say to their parents,
‘Sorry, I can’t help you.
For I have vowed to give to God
what I would have given to you.

you let them disregard their needy parents.

Faith and Deeds Or Works
Explained Very Clearly
(59MS)
James 2:14-26 New International Version (NIV)
Faith and Deeds
14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters,
if someone claims to have faith
but has no deeds?
Can such faith save them?
15 Suppose a brother or a sister is
without clothes and daily food.
16 If one of you says to them,
“Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,”
but does nothing about
their physical needs, what good is it?
17 In the same way, faith by itself,
if it is not accompanied
by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say,
“You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds,
and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
19 You believe that there is one God.
Good! Even the demons
believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish person,
do you want evidence that faith
without deeds is useless[a]?
21 Was not our father Abraham
considered righteous for what
he did when he offered
his son Isaac on the altar?
22 You see that his faith and
his actions were working together,
and his faith was made
complete by what he did.
23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says,
“Abraham believed God,
and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b]
and he was called God’s friend.
24 You see that a person is
considered righteous by what they
do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way,
was not even Rahab the prostitute
considered righteous for what she
did when she gave lodging to the spies
and sent them off in a different direction?
26 As the body without the spirit is dead,
so faith without deeds is dead.
Focus, It Is All About Focus.

Parable of the
Vineyard Workers
20 “For the Kingdom of
Heaven is like
the landowner who went
out early one morning
to hire workers for
his vineyard.
2 He agreed to pay the
normal daily wage[a]
and sent them out to
work.
3 “At nine o’clock in
the morning
he was passing through
the marketplace and
saw some people
standing around doing
nothing.
4 So he hired them,
telling them he would
pay them whatever
was right at the end
of the day.
5 So they went to work
in the vineyard.
At noon and again at
three o’clock he did the same thing.
6 “At five o’clock
that afternoon he was in town
again and saw some
more people standing around.
He asked them, ‘Why
haven’t you been working today?’
7 “They replied,
‘Because no one hired us.’
“The landowner told
them,
‘Then go out and join
the others in my vineyard.’
8 “That evening he
told the foreman to call
the workers in and pay
them,
beginning with the
last workers first.
9 When those hired at
five o’clock were paid,
each received a full
day’s wage.
10 When those hired
first came to get their pay,
they assumed they
would receive more.
But they, too, were
paid a day’s wage.
11 When they received
their pay,
they protested to the
owner,
12 ‘Those people
worked only one hour,
and yet you’ve paid
them just as much as you
paid us who worked all
day in the scorching heat.’
13 “He answered one of
them,
‘Friend, I haven’t
been unfair!
Didn’t you agree to
work all day for the usual wage? 1
4 Take your money and
go.
I wanted to pay this
last worker the same as you.
15 Is it against the
law for me to do what
I want with my money?
Should you be jealous
because I am kind to others?’

Parable of the
Great Feast
22 Jesus also told
them other parables. He said,
2 “The Kingdom of
Heaven can be illustrated by
the story of a king
who prepared a great
wedding feast for his
son.
3 When the banquet was
ready,
he sent his servants
to notify those who were invited.
But they all refused
to come!
4 “So he sent other
servants to tell them,
‘The feast has been
prepared.
The bulls and fattened
cattle have been killed,
and everything is
ready. Come to the banquet!’
5 But the guests he
had invited ignored them
and went their own
way,
one to his farm,
another to his business.
6 Others seized his
messengers
and insulted them and
killed them.
7 “The king was
furious,
and he sent out his
army to destroy
the murderers and burn
their town.
8 And he said to his
servants,
‘The wedding feast is
ready, and the guests
I invited aren’t
worthy of the honor.
9 Now go out to the
street corners and invite everyone you see.’
10 So the servants
brought in everyone they could find,
good and bad alike,
and the banquet hall
was filled with guests.
11 “But when the king
came in to meet the guests,
he noticed a man who
wasn’t
wearing the proper
clothes for a wedding.
12 ‘Friend,’ he asked,
‘how is it that you
are here without wedding clothes?’
But the man had no
reply.
13 Then the king said
to his aides,
‘Bind his hands and
feet
and throw him into the
outer darkness,
where there will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

hot nor cold.
I wish that you were
one or the other!
16 But since you are
like lukewarm water,
neither hot nor cold,
I will spit you out
of my mouth!
17 You say,
‘I am rich.
I have everything I
want.
I don’t need a
thing!’
And you don’t realize
that you
are wretched and
miserable and poor and
blind and
naked.
18 So I advise you to
buy gold from me—
gold that has been
purified by fire.
Then you will be rich.
Also buy white
garments
from me so you will
not be
shamed by your
nakedness,
and ointment for your
eyes
so you will be able to
see.
19 I correct and
discipline everyone I love.
So be diligent and
turn
from your
indifference.
20 “Look! I stand at
the door and knock.
If you hear my voice
and open the door,
I will come in,
and we will share a
meal together as friends.
21 Those who are

will sit with me on my
throne,
just as I was
victorious and
sat with my Father on
his throne.

Many Things Changed As
For The Purpose Of
The Old Testament and
The New Testament.
But There I one Thing
That Never Changes,
The Heart Of God
And What He Wants The
Focus
To Be Of Those That
Call His Name.
"No, this is the kind
of fasting I want:
Free those who are

lighten the burden of

Let the oppressed go
free,
and remove the chains
that bind people.

True and False
Worship
58 “Shout with the
voice of a trumpet blast.
Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.
Tell my people Israel of their sins!
2 Yet they act so
pious!
They come to the Temple every day
and seem
delighted to learn all about me.
They act like a righteous
nation
that would never abandon the laws of its God.
They ask me to take action on their behalf,
pretending
they want to be near me.
3 ‘We have fasted before you!’ they
say.
‘Why aren’t you impressed?
We have been very hard
on ourselves,
and you don’t even notice it!’
“I will tell you why!”
I respond.
“It’s because you are fasting to please
yourselves.
Even while you fast,
you keep oppressing
your workers.
4 What good is fasting
when you keep on
fighting and quarreling?
This kind of fasting
will
never get you anywhere with me.
5 You humble yourselves
by going through the motions of penance,
bowing your
heads
like reeds bending in the wind.
You dress in
burlap
and cover yourselves with ashes.
Is this what
you call fasting?
Do you really think this will please
the Lord?
6 “No, this is the
kind of fasting I want:
Free those who are wrongly
imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that
bind people.
7 Share your food with the hungry,
and
give shelter to the homeless.
Give clothes to those who need
them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
8 “Then your salvation
will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly
heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the
glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.
9 Then when
you call, the Lord will answer.
‘Yes, I am here,’ he will
quickly reply.
“Remove the heavy yoke
of oppression.
Stop pointing your finger and spreading
vicious rumors!
10 Feed the hungry,
and help those in
trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
11 The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water
when you are dry
and restoring your strength.
You will
be like a well-watered garden,
like an ever-flowing
spring.
12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of
your cities.
Then you will be known as a rebuilder of
walls
and a restorer of homes.
13 “Keep the Sabbath
day holy.
Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the
Lord’s holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on
that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.
14 Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you
great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised
to your ancestor Jacob.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”

11 John replied, “If
you have two shirts,
give one to the poor.
If you have food,
share it with those
who are hungry.”
12 Even corrupt tax
collectors
came to be baptized
and asked,
“Teacher, what should
we do?”
13 He replied,
“Collect no more taxes
than
the government
requires.”
14 “What should we

asked some soldiers.
John replied,
“Don’t extort money or
make false accusations.
And be content with
your pay.”

True Disciples
21 “Not everyone who
calls out to me,
‘Lord! Lord!’
will enter the Kingdom

Only those who
actually do the will
of my Father in heaven
will enter.
22 On judgment day
many will say to me,
‘Lord! Lord!
We prophesied in your
name and
cast out demons in
your name and
performed many
miracles in your name.’
23 But I will reply,
‘I never knew you.
Get away from me, you
who break God’s laws.’
Building on a Solid
Foundation
24 “Anyone who listens
to my teaching and
follows it is wise,
like a person who
builds a house on solid rock.
25 Though the rain
comes in torrents and
the floodwaters rise
and the winds
beat against that
house,
it won’t collapse
because it is built on bedrock.
26 But anyone who
hears my teaching
and doesn’t obey it is
foolish,
like a person who
builds a house on sand.
27 When the rains and
floods come and
the winds beat against
that house,
it will collapse with
a mighty crash.”
28 When Jesus had
finished saying these things,
the crowds were amazed
at his teaching,
29 for he taught with
real authority—
quite unlike their
teachers of religious law.

Enter the wide
Gate VS Entering the narrow gate
"You can enter God's
Kingdom
only through the
narrow gate.
The highway to hell is
broad,
and its gate is wide

who choose that way.
Matthew 7:12-20 New
Living Translation (NLT)
The Golden Rule
12 “Do to others
whatever you would
like them to do to
you.
This is the essence of
all that is taught
in the law and the
prophets.
The Narrow Gate
13 “You can enter
God’s Kingdom
only through the
narrow gate.
The highway to hell[a]
is broad,
and its gate is wide
for
the many who choose
that way.
14 But the gateway to
life
is very narrow and the
road is difficult,
and only a few ever
find it.
The Tree and Its Fruit
15 “Beware of false
prophets
who come disguised as
harmless sheep
but are really
vicious wolves.
16 You can identify
them by their fruit, that is,
by the way they act.
Can you pick grapes
from thornbushes,
or figs from thistles?
17 A good tree
produces good fruit,
and a bad tree
produces bad fruit.
18 A good tree can’t
produce bad fruit,
and a bad tree can’t
produce good fruit.
19 So every tree that
does not produce good fruit
is chopped down and
thrown into the fire.
20 Yes, just as you
can identify a tree by its fruit,
so you can identify
people by their actions.

Entering with
wedding clothes

came in to see the guests,
he noticed a man there
who was

clothes.
He asked, 'How did you get in here
without wedding
clothes, friend?'
The man was
speechless.

Matthew 22:1-14 New

Parable of the
Great Feast
1 Jesus also told them
other parables.
He said,
2 “The Kingdom of
Heaven can be illustrated
by the story of a king
who prepared
a great wedding feast
for his son.
3 When the banquet was
ready,
he sent his servants
to notify
those who were
invited.
But they all refused
to come!
4 “So he sent other
servants to tell them,
‘The feast has been
prepared.
The bulls and fattened
cattle have been killed,
and everything is
ready.
Come to the banquet!’
5 But the guests he
had invited ignored them and
went their own way,
one to his farm,
another to his
business.
6 Others seized his
messengers and
insulted them and
killed them.
7 “The king was
furious, and
he sent out his army
to destroy
the murderers and burn
their town.
8 And he said to his
servants,
‘The wedding feast is
ready,
and the guests I
invited
aren’t worthy of the
honor.
9 Now go out to the
street corners and
invite everyone you
see.’
10 So the servants
brought in
everyone they could
find, good and bad alike,
and the banquet hall
was filled with guests.
11 “But when the king
came in to meet the guests,
he noticed a man who
wasn’t
wearing the proper
clothes for a wedding.
12 ‘Friend,’ he asked,
‘how is it that you
are here without wedding clothes?’
But the man had no
reply.
13 Then the king said
to his aides,
‘Bind his hands and
feet and
throw him into the
outer darkness,
where there will be
weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
14 “For many are
called, but few are chosen.”

John 14 New Living
Translation (NLT)
Jesus, the Way to
the Father
14 “Don’t let your
hearts be troubled.
Trust in God, and
trust also in me.
2 There is more than
enough
room in my Father’s
home.
If this were not so,
would I have told you
that I am going to
prepare a place for
you?
3 When everything is
ready,
I will come and get
you,
so that you will
always be with me where I am.
4 And you know the way
to where I am going.”
5 “No, we don’t know,
Lord,”
Thomas said.
“We have no idea where
you are going,
so how can we know the
way?”
6 Jesus told him,
“I am the way, the
truth, and the life.
No one can come to the
Father except through me.
7 If you had really
known me,
you would know who my
Father is.
From now on,
you do know him and
have seen him!”
8 Philip said, “Lord,
show us the Father,
and we will be
satisfied.”
9 Jesus replied,
“Have I been with you
all this time, Philip,
and yet you still
don’t know who I am?
Anyone who has seen
me has seen the Father!
So why are you asking
me to show him to you?
10 Don’t you believe
that I am in the Father
and the Father is in
me?
The words I speak are
not my own,
but my Father who
lives in me
does his work through
me.
11 Just believe that I
am in the Father
and the Father is in
me.
Or at least believe
because of the work
you have seen me do.
12 “I tell you the
truth,
anyone who believes in
me will do
the same works I have
done,
and even greater
works,
because I am going to
be with the Father.
13 You can ask for
anything in my name,
and I will do it,
so that the Son can
bring glory to the Father.
14 Yes, ask me for
anything in my name,
and I will do it!
Jesus Promises the
Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me,
obey my commandments.
16 And I will ask the
Father,
and he will give you
another Advocate,
who will never leave
you.
17 He is the Holy
Spirit,
who leads into all
truth.
The world cannot
receive him, because
it isn’t looking for
him and
doesn’t recognize
him.
But you know him,
because
he lives with you now
and
later will be in you.
18 No, I will not
abandon you as orphans—
I will come to you.
19 Soon the world will
no longer see me,
but you will see me.
Since I live,
you also will live.
20 When I am raised
to life again,
you will know that I
am in my Father,
and you are in me, and
I am in you.
21 Those who accept my
commandments and
obey them are the ones
who love me.
And because they love
me,
my Father will love
them.
And I will love them
and reveal myself
to each of them.”
22 Judas (not Judas
Iscariot,
but the other disciple
with that name) said to him,
“Lord, why are you
going to reveal
yourself only to us
and not to the world at large?”
23 Jesus replied,
“All who love me will
do what I say.
My Father will love
them,
and we will come and
make our home with
each of them.
24 Anyone who doesn’t
love me will not obey me.
And remember, my words
are not my own.
What I am telling you
is from
the Father who sent
me.
25 I am telling you
these things now
while I am still with
you.
26 But when the Father
sends the
Advocate as my
representative—
that is, the Holy
Spirit—
he will teach you
everything and
will remind you of
everything
I have told you.
27 “I am leaving you
with a gift—
peace of mind and
heart.
And the peace I give
is a
gift the world cannot
give.
So don’t be troubled
or afraid.
28 Remember what I
told you:
I am going away,
but I will come back
to you again.
If you really loved
me,
you would be happy
that I am going to the
Father,
who is greater than I
am.
29 I have told you
these things
before they happen so
that when
they do happen,
you will believe.
30 “I don’t have much
more time to talk to you,
because the ruler of
this world approaches.
He has no power over
me,
31 but I will do what
the Father requires of me,
so that the world will
know that I love the Father.
Come, let’s be going.
Then the devil, who
had deceived them,
was thrown into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur,
joining the beast and
the false prophet.
There they will be
tormented
day and night forever
and ever.
